ART!
So we have art on the street and buildings as art! The Seattle Public Library Building! Designed by Rem Koolhass and opened in 2004. The bronze sculpture is across the street in front of the Bank of America building.

The Quiet Places
In search for the quiet little corners to enjoy the morning addiction!
This is the back corner of the Columbia Tower lobby.

Seattle Sights!
Some Seattle Sights from Friday night! Sculpture Park and Space Needle. Sculpture Park is on the north end of downtown next to the water front. Good place to take some pictures, people watch, and relax.
I have no idea what it is but it's Big, it's Steel, and it's Orange! Some say it looks like a crab when viewed from the water.
The '&' from "Love & Loss" piece. Odd.
Skyline from Sculpture Park looking East towards Space Needle. Very cool.
It doesn't seem tall next to all the sky scrappers but when you are below it, WOW!
The view from the O deck is always breath taking, specially at night! One of those see before you die things.
The Elevator Ride to the O deck and back down is always entertaining. Only last some 40 secs but the operators always have some witty comments. Usually better at the end of the summer as they've had plenty of practice during the high tourist season.Beer!

Fixing

Finally getting the computer back up and running after a lot of screwing around! Everybody got involved. Of course the only one to actual do any work was Guntheer.
Recovered most of the data from the bad hard drive. Spent most of the night getting things reinstalled and everything back in working order. Next order of biz, 1 Terabyte drive for massive backups! Lets not have this happen again. Can't wait for the mainstream 'Cloud Computing' so we can do easier off site backups.

MONEY!
On my way to morning coffee yesterday I happen to get on the elevator with 2 Brinks Security guards and their large bag of money! I could have taken 'em both! OK, maybe not, but taking the secret picture was exciting!
Learned to drive today!
Check this idiot out! The flashing red lights & arm mean Stop! He had
to have help getting the arm off his SUV and backed up so the train
could continue on!

Weekend of Camping
Sorry for the lack of posts. Was gone this weekend and when I got back the computer crashed so I've spent every night since trying to get it fixed and recover my files! Lesson to all, back up your hard drives on a regular schedule!
So I'm tyring to do a couple of posts from phone and work. Weekend was busy with a camping adventure! Went to Mt Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest. Awesome place I must say. Frickin hot and muggy though!
Pretty much the 'Road to No Where'! Nothing like tress surrounding you with only a small strip of sky above! Would be great ride on the bike!
Had to stop and pick up some firewood before getting to the campground. Didn't know if they would have any or be selling it when we arrived. This is the point where you realize you are no longer in Kansas, Toto!
"'Nature is touching me!" It was all around, you couldn't escape it. Every where you turned! Had an entertaining time trying to get the supposed 'dry' wood we purchased to light and stay going. Post more images when computer is up and running and the others send me what they have on the cameras. Best part of the whole thing was no phone service! Completely cut off!Sunday, August 10, 2008
Mariner's Game

Street Activities
So on my way back from lunch there is some commotion going on in front of City Hall. Some people walking, people with cameras, and couple of people holding reflective panels. From what I could gather was it was some sort of photo shoot. The models were walking and pretending to have a heated discussion. Oh the fun things you see!
Real Barbeque!
So working in the city has its perks. One of those is there are more places to eat than you can probably visit! In my office building along there are over 20 places! So I like to step outside at least once a week and find some place new. I had heard that there was a good barbeque joint near the office and went looking. I did find it and it is defiantly a 'joint'! Never guess the name! "Hole in the Wall Barbeque" I'm not kidding!

Dinning in the City

Met up with the lil Sis and Bro-in-law for drinks and dinner on Monday night! Started off at a little Brit pub called Elephant and Castle! Great pub! They have these little breaded triangles of mac-n-cheese, YUMMY! And, they have outdoor seating which makes for a very relaxing time!
Don't forget about the random 'Red Telephone Box' on the top tier of the patio. One could have a bit of fun with it if one was so inclined! ;) The other picture is of the entrance which is down a few steps as the pub is below the Red Lion Inn. Check out their website when your bored, Elephant and Castle. Bang ON!
Then proceeded across the street to have a bite at Palomino. I had heard it was a good place to eat and drink. They weren't wrong!
View of rotisserie kitchen from our booth. The whole restaurant was plush and warm. Made you feel relaxed so you could just sit and enjoy the evening. The bar area looked even better with low comfy bar chairs around large tables.
Our waiters were a riot! Both of them! This is "Kev the wine guy" He knows tons about wine and had plenty of stories to tell. Check out his website! He holds a Wine 101 class at the restaurant. I just can't imagine it being very boring. Sounds like a good fall event! Who's game?
Jon was our main guy! He apparently works at another restaurant whose softball team is rival to Palomino's so there was lots of ribbing going on between Kevin and Jon. These guys made our little adventure great fun! So if you're in town make sure to stop by and tell 'em the gnome sent you!

The Stairwell!

Just in case you were curious. This is what a stairwell looks like in a skyscraper! Very cool, huh! We work on the 40th Floor which is accessed by the express elevator and you transfer to another set of elvators to get to the floors above. If you want the floors below you get on a seperate set on the ground floor or you come to the 40th and walk down. We do lots of busines on 37 - 39 and its much easier to take the stairs from the 40th.
